Underwood fears the beard during playoffs

NASHVILLE, April 14 (UPI) -- Country singer Carrie Underwood says she wishes her hockey-playing husband could skip the custom of growing a beard during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Mike Fisher and his soon-to-be scruffy Nashville Predators teammates will be forgoing shaves while they battle their way through the long NHL playoffs.

"Before they started, I told Mike, 'You need to shave close,'" Underwood told People magazine. "He always looks good with a little stubble, but it's probably going to get out of hand soon."

Grooming aside, Underwood says she is an ardent fan of Fisher and the Preds. She said tries to catch every game on television or radio when she can't make it to the Nashville rink.

Once Nashville's playoff run ends, Underwood and Fisher plan to spend a summer of wedded bliss together before he reports to training camp and she goes on tour in support of her new album "Blown Away," People said.
