MLB: St. Louis 5, Chicago Cubs 1

ST. LOUIS, April 14 (UPI) -- Yadier Molina keyed a big fourth inning with a two-run single Saturday and the St. Louis Cardinals went on to handle the Chicago Cubs 5-1.

Molina scored on Daniel Descalso's RBI triple to make it 3-0 and Tyler Greene's single then chased home Descalso to complete the four-run fourth.

Molina finished 2-for-4 and John Jay also added an RBI for the Cards, who evened their three-game home series with Chicago at one win apiece.

Lance Lynn (2-0), who took over the rotation spot of the injured Chris Carpenter, provided a second straight strong start.

The right-hander yielded one run on four hits over 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out five.

Chicago starter Chris Volstad (0-1) surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits in a six-inning effort.

Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cubs, who lost for the sixth time in nine games to start the season.
