NBA: New York 103, Washington 65

NEW YORK, April 13 (UPI) -- J.R. Smith made four of New York's 14 3-pointers Friday and scored 23 points in leading the Knicks to a 103-65 crushing of Washington.

New York moved into a share of seventh place with Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference with both teams two games in front of ninth-place Milwaukee.

Washington failed to score more than 20 points in any quarter, shot just 27 percent from the field and turned the ball over 21 times. The Wizards had won two in a row, but have just 14 victories in 59 games this season.

Carmelo Anthony, Steve Novak and Baron Davis all had 18 points for the Knicks, winners of four out of five.

The 65 points were the second fewest produced by the Wizards this year. They managed just 64 against Chicago in January.

Jordan Crawford had 17 points for Washington.
