NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- Left-handed pitcher Jonathon Niese and the New York Mets have agreed to a five-year contract, the team announced Saturday.
The deal also includes club options for 2017 and 2018.

Niese, who owns a 22-23 record with a 4.39 ERA over 65 games in four years with the Mets, would have been arbitration-eligible following this season.
Terms of the contract weren't disclosed, but the New York Post reported it was worth $25.5 million.
The 25-year-old starter compiled an 11-11 record with a 4.40 ERA last season.
