MLB: Pittsburgh 2, Philadelphia 1 (10 in.)

PITTSBURGH, April 7 (UPI) -- Rod Barajas belted a lead-off double in the 10th inning and later scored the winning run in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 2-1 decision over Philadelphia Saturday.

Barajas blasted a pitch from Joe Blanton (0-1) off the center field wall, missing a game-winning home run by inches.

Jeff Karstens started for Pittsburgh and yielded only one run over six innings. Juan Cruz (1-0) picked up the victory with a scoreless top of the 10th.

Cliff Lee allowed one run over six frames for the Phillies.

Hunter Pence drove in the Phillies' only run with a first-inning single.
