DETROIT, April 7 (UPI) -- Prince Fielder hit his first two homers for Detroit and the Tigers went deep a total of five times Saturday in their 10-0 rout of Boston.
Fielder, who left Milwaukee to sign a nine-year, $214 million deal with the Tigers in January, homered to left field in the fourth inning and sent another solo shot to right in the fifth.
Doug Fister started the game but left after throwing 3 2/3 shutout frames, complaining of a muscle strain in his left side. He was later placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left costochondral strain.
Duane Below (1-0) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Josh Beckett (0-1) was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in only 4 2/3 frames for the Red Sox.
