MLB: New York Mets 1, Atlanta 0

NEW YORK, April 5 (UPI) -- David Wright singled in the only run and five New York pitchers combined on a four-hitter Thursday in the Mets' 1-0 win over the Atlanta Braves.

The Mets had just two hits going into the sixth when Andres Torres led off the inning against Tommy Hanson (1-0) with a walk. Daniel Murphy followed with a hit to right that advanced Torres to third.

Wright lined the next pitch into left field, allowing Torres to score easily.

Ramon Ramirez (1-0), the second Mets pitcher, collected the win with 1 1/3 innings of two-hit relief. Frank Francisco was called on the ninth and got the save.

New York starter Johan Santana allowed a one-out single in the first and then retired the next 12 batters. He gave up a double in the fifth and, after two were out, walked two to load the bases but got out of the jam.

One of the hits Ramirez allowed was a one-tour triple in the seventh, but Tim Byrdak came on and struck out the next two batters. Atlanta didn't manage a runner the rest of the way.
