NHL: Pittsburgh 5, Boston 3

BOSTON, April 3 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby had two goals and an assist Tuesday and the Pittsburgh Penguins strengthened their grip on home ice in the playoffs with a 5-3 win over Boston.

Arron Asham, Paul Martin and James Neal also scored for the Penguins, who moved the three points ahead of Philadelphia in the race for the Eastern Conference's fourth seed.

The top four seeds in each conference host the first round of the playoffs, with Pittsburgh most likely to meet the Flyers.

Brent Johnson earned the victory with 26 saves.

Boston, which has clinched the East's second seed, got goals from Rich Peverley, Benoit Pouliot and Milan Lucic.

Marty Turco turned aside 22-of-27 shots for the Bruins.
