The win marked the first time in NCAA history a women's squad went 40-0.

Brittney Griner led Baylor with 26 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. The rangy center was 11-of-16 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Odyssey Sims added 19 points and Destiny Williams had 12 for Baylor, who shot 50 percent from the field to 35.5 percent for Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish had 20 points from Skylar Diggins. Kayla McBride was the only other Irish player in double figures with 11 points.

Notre Dame was hampered by Natalie Novosel's cold shooting hand; she went 0-for-11 from the field and hit five free throws. Starting center Devereaux Peters got into foul trouble and was largely unavailable to challenge Griner in the paint.
