NHL: Phoenix 4, Anaheim 0

GLENDALE, Ariz., April 1 (UPI) -- Mike Smith logged his second consecutive shutout with 44 stops Saturday and the Phoenix Coyotes helped their playoff chances with a 4-0 win over Anaheim.

Smith's whitewash was his seventh this season for Phoenix, which improved to 91 points and pulled into a statistical tie with Los Angeles atop the Pacific Division with three games to play.

The Kings, however, retained the top spot due to a head-to-head tiebreaker.

Ray Whitney passed 1,000-point mark for his career with a goal and an assist. Radim Vrbata also supplied a goal and an assist as the Coyotes logged their second straight win.

Jeff Deslauriers turned aside 25-of-29 shots in the Ducks' loss.
