Djokovic cruises past Murray for Miami win

MIAMI, April 1 (UPI) -- Top-ranked Novak Djokovic defended his Sony Ericsson Open title Sunday, dominating Andy Murray 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the Miami final.

The Serbian star wrapped up the victory on his first match point in the second-set tiebreaker when Murray hit his forehand long, improving to 20-2 on the year en route to his 30th career tour-level crown.

Djokovic was successful on 70 percent of his service points while Murray had just one break opportunity the entire match and fell to 5-8 all-time against the world No. 1 player.

Djokovic hadn't played since Wednesday after Rafael Nadal withdrew from Friday's scheduled semifinal match.

Murray fell to 1-2 in finals this year while appearing in his 33rd career ATP championship match.
