COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 28 (UPI) -- Vinny Prospal and Derek Dorsett scored first-period goals Wednesday and Allen York earned his first NHL win in a 4-2 victory for Columbus over Detroit.
York appeared in goal for the eighth time in his career, and for the first time since Oct. 29. He brought an 0-1 record into the contest and made 29 saves -- 17 in the third period against the team that leads the Western Conference in scoring.
The goals by Prospal and Dorsett gave the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead and Columbus added second-period scores from Derick Brassard and R.J. Umberger for a 4-1 advantage.
The teams met Monday in Detroit with the Red Wings winning that one 7-2.
Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall scored the Detroit goals. Ty Conklin allowed the four Columbus scores on 31 shots.
