DENVER, March 25 (UPI) -- Chris Higgins' second goal of the game came 1:40 into overtime Saturday and sent Northwest Division champion Vancouver to a 3-2 win over Colorado.

Vancouver clinched its fourth straight Northwest crown earlier Saturday when the Calgary Flames fell to Dallas.

Higgins also scored in the second period and Mason Raymond added a tally for the Canucks, who improved to 99 points with win -- two fewer than St. Louis atop the Western Conference standings.

Roberto Luongo earned the victory with 38 saves.

The Avalanche, meanwhile, fell to 10th place in the tightly packed West, but remained just one point out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

Gabriel Landeskog and Jamie McGinn scored and Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned aside 29 shots for Colorado.
