MLS: Columbus 2, Montreal 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 24 (UPI) -- Milovan Mirosevic and Olman Vargas both scored Saturday, propelling Columbus to a 2-0 win over Montreal in the Crew's home opener.

Mirosevic gave the Crew (1-1-0) a 1-0 lead by converting a penalty kick in the 28th minute after Felipe Martins fouled Emilio Renteria inside the area.

Vargas doubled the advantage after the break, scoring on a header as the Impact played with 10 men following a red card issued to Jeb Brovsky.

Donovan Ricketts ended with seven saves for Montreal (0-2-1), which remained winless to start its first season in the MLS.
