BUFFALO, N.Y., March 21 (UPI) -- Ryan Miller made 34 saves Wednesday to produce his sixth shutout of the season and lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-0 victory over Montreal.
The Sabres have won back-to-back games and, with 80 points, have moved into a tie with Washington for the eighth and final post-season spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington, however, currently has the tiebreak advantage as well as a game in hand against Buffalo.
Miller has 28 shutouts in his nine-year career, and his six this season put him in a tie for third place in the NHL behind the New York Rangers' Henrik Lindquist (eight) and Los Angeles' Jonathan Quick (seven).
Cody Hodgson scored two of Buffalo's goals, tipping in a shot 6:15 into the game and tallying on the power play with 7:15 to go in the contest. Jason Pominville scored in the second period.
All three goals came against Carey Price.
