NHL: New York Rangers 4, New Jersey 2

NEW YORK, March 19 (UPI) -- Mats Zuccarello scored the game-winner in the second period Monday and the New York Rangers went on to a fight-filled 4-2 victory over New Jersey.

Derek Stepan and Brandon Dubinsky each added a goal and an assist while Dan Girardi also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Rangers, who won for only the third time in eight outings.

New York improved to 97 points, three points better than Pittsburgh atop the East.

Henrik Lundqvist made 20 saves in the win, which began with three simultaneous fights only 2 seconds into the contest.

Patrik Elias and Petr Sykora scored for the Devils, who currently hold the sixth spot in the conference playoff chase.

Martin Brodeur made 23 saves for New Jersey.
