JUPITER, Fla., March 12 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods said Monday he has been diagnosed with a mild strain of his left Achilles tendon and will be back in action soon.

The former world No. 1 indicated on his Twitter account he will be hitting balls this week. He withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship Sunday after 11 holes.

"Got good news from doc tonight," Woods wrote. "Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week."

Woods said Sunday his Achilles began bothering him, forcing him to withdraw from an event for the first time since last year's Players Championship.

Woods is set to participate in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which begins March 22.
