It isn't a surprise that the Wildcats (30-1) are No.1. They have received all the first-place votes for six weeks and a win Sunday over Florida gave Kentucky a 22-game winning streak. The Wildcats haven't lost since a one-point defeat at Indiana Dec. 10.

Syracuse (30-1) again pulls in all the votes for No. 2. The Orange have won 10 straight since their lone loss -- a nine-point defeat at Notre Dame.

Kansas (26-5) moves to the No. 3 spot and North Carolina (27-4), the pre-season No. 1, is fourth. Missouri (27-4) goes from eighth to No. 5 while Duke (26-5) drops three to sixth after the loss to North Carolina.

Big 10 co-champions (along with Michigan) Ohio State (24-5) and Michigan State (24-7) are seventh and eighth, respectively. Marquette (25-6) is in at No. 9 and Murray State (30-1) is 10th.

McIlroy is golf's new No. 1

VIRGINIA WATER, England, March 5 (UPI) -- Rory McIlroy climbed to the top of the men 's world golf rankings Monday after winning the PGA Tour's Honda Classic.

McIlroy had a chance to take over the top spot last week but finished second at the WGC match play tournament to Hunter Mahan. However, even a final-round 62 by Tiger Woods wasn't enough to catch McIlroy at the Honda Classic as he collected his third PGA Tour victory, a list that includes last year's U.S. Open.

He also has three European Tour titles, with a win at Hong Kong in December giving him three championships in the last nine months.

McIlroy at 22 is the second youngest -- to Woods -- to reach the No. 1 spot in the world rankings. By ending the 40-week stay at the top of Luke Donald, McIlroy becomes the 16th player to reach No. 1.

McIlroy has a ranking points average of 9.293, with Donald dropping to No. 2 at 8.969. Lee Westwood remains third, with an average of 8.189 followed by, in order, Martin Kaymer (6.017), Steve Stricker (5.712) and Webb Simpson (5.069).

Jason Day jumps from 10th to No. 7 with an average of 5.023, pushing Dustin Johnson (5.023) to eighth. Charl Schwartzel is up three places to ninth at 4.991 while Mahan (4.965) is 10th after a week at No. 9.

Woods is back in the Top 20 at 16th while Tom Gillis, who tied Woods for second at the Honda Classic, rockets from 269th to No. 157.

Alex White apologizes after DUI arrest

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 5 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies pitcher Alex White apologized to the team, fans and his family after his arrest on drunken-driving charges.

Scottsdale police arrested White about 9:15 p.m. Saturday and he was released from jail at 10:50 p.m., The Denver Post reported.

"It's very unfortunate and I'm completely embarrassed," White, 23, told reporters at the Rockies' spring training complex. "It was very stupid, and I let down a lot of people, most important, my family, this organization and the fans. That's not the type of person I am."

White said he was pulled over while driving back to his apartment from a private gathering and failed a road-sobriety and Breathalyzer test. He said he was not with any teammates at the time.

White said police didn't tell him his blood-alcohol content but said it was above the legal limit of .08 percent.

Rockies General Manager Dan O'Dowd said White showed no indication of having an alcohol-abuse problem and would not be disciplined with a suspension or fine.

The right-handed White, who was acquired last summer from Cleveland, is competing for a slot in the Rockies' starting rotation.

Report: Owens owes $20K in child support

ATLANTA, March 5 (UPI) -- Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens owes $20,000 in overdue child-support payments to the Atlanta mother of one of his children, a court petition said.

The contempt-of-court petition, filed in Fulton County by Melanie Paige Smith, said Owens has not made $5,000 a month support payments for his daughter since November, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Smith says she wants Owens fined or jailed if he does not pay.

A judge ordered Owens to pay child support for the girl in March 2007.

Owens now plays for the Dallas-area Allen Wranglers in the Indoor Football League

A January GQ Magazine article said Owens pays $44,600 a month in child support for his four children, ages 5 to 12, the Journal-Constitution reported. Three of the four mothers have sued Owens for support.

Owens, 38, who helped the Philadelphia Eagles reach the 2005 Super Bowl, also played for the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals did not renew his $2 million, one-year contract last year.

The Philadelphia Inquirer said Owens told GQ he had spent much of the $80 million he made during his NFL career.
