After falling behind 2-0 early in the second period, Tampa Bay got consecutive goals from Tom Pyatt, Teddy Purcell and Steven Stamkos. It was the NHL-leading 45th of the season for Stamkos, but Brandon Dubinsky tied it for the Rangers with 3:27 left in regulation.

Mathieu Garon made 16 saves in the victory. The four Tampa Bay goals came against Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 27 shots.
