MONTERREY, Mexico, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Nina Bratchikova pulled off an upset at the Monterrey Open Wednesday, eliminating No. 1 seed Roberta Vinci in the second round.
Bratchikova produced a 7-5, 7-5 victory that put her in the quarterfinals against either Marina Abramovic or Greta Arn. Those two players will meet in the second round Thursday.

No. 2 seed Sara Errani easily moved into the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Alize Cornet.
Other second-round winners Wednesday were No. 8 seed Lourdes Dominguez Lino, who ousted Valeria Savinykh 6-4, 6-2, and Alexandra Cadantu, who won against Silvia Soler-Espinosa 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
