NHL: Dallas 3, Chicago 1

CHICAGO, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Michael Ryder put Dallas in front during a three-goal third period Thursday, rallying the Stars to a 3-1 victory over Chicago.

The Stars, who began the night two points out of a playoff position, put together a rare scoring outburst to capture their second in a row.

After failing to put a shot past Corey Crawford during the first two periods, Dallas tied it on Steve Ott's tip-in 9:25 into the third.

Ryder also tipped in a shot by Mike Ribeiro with 5:02 to go and Loui Eriksson added an insurance goal less than two minutes later.

Marian Hossa produced a second-period goal for the Blackhawks, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Richard Bachman made 27 saves to get the win. He had not appeared in any of the Stars' previous 10 games.

Crawford allowed the three goals on 23 shots.

Chicago had won 21 of its 31 home games prior to Thursday.
