NBA: Houston 93, Philadelphia 87

HOUSTON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A 3-point play by Kyle Lowry with 59 seconds to play gave Houston a four-point lead Wednesday and the Rockets held on to defeat Philadelphia 93-87.

The Rockets have won three in a row while the 76ers have lost a season-worst five straight -- the last three setbacks coming on the road.

The game was close throughout and Philadelphia trailed by a single point heading into the final minute. Lowry, however, made a jumper while being fouled by Thaddeus Young and the resulting free throw made it a two-possession game.

Philadelphia managed only two points the rest of the way while Kevin Martin and Courtney Lee were making a pair of free throws each that clinched the victory.

Luis Scola had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Houston and Martin scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth period.

Rookie Nikola Vucevic had a career-best 18 points for the 76ers, who were playing without forward Elton Brand and center Spencer Hawes.
