NBA: Dallas 102, Denver 84

DALLAS, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Shawn Marion helped Dallas break the game open in the third period Wednesday and the Mavericks built a 31-point lead in a 102-84 blasting of Denver.

Dallas won its fifth straight game without guard Jason Terry, whose 126-game streak come to an end due to a strained groin.

Marion scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds, leading a hot Dallas stretch that saw the Mavericks outscore the Nuggets by 17 in the third quarter. Vince Carter scored 15 points and was the lone Dallas starter who saw action in the final period.

Lamar Odom added 14 points off the bench for the Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki had 12 points while playing only half the game.

Denver managed just 35 percent shooting from the field, with Rudy Fernandez producing 14 points off the bench. The Nuggets had won two in a row.

Dallas reserve guard Delonte West left the game in the second period with an injured right finger and did not return.
