The game will be played Feb. 26 in Orlando.
Pierce will be playing in the contest for the 10th time and Nowitzki, the MVP of last season's championship series, will be making his 11th appearance.
In addition to Pierce, the reserves for the Eastern Conference team will be Chris Bosh of Miami, Luol Deng of Chicago, Roy Hibbert of Indiana, Andre Iguodala of Philadelphia, Joe Johnson of Atlanta and Deron Williams of New Jersey.
It will be the first trip to the game for Deng, Hibbert and Iguodala.
Those joining Nowitzki on the Western Conference bench will be LaMarcus Aldridge of Portland, Marc Gasol of Memphis, Kevin Love of Minnesota, Steve Nash of Phoenix, Tony Parker of San Antonio and Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City.
Aldridge and Gasol will be All-Star rookies.
The starting lineups had already been determined through fan balloting.
Derrick Rose of Chicago, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade of Miami, Carmelo Anthony of New York and Dwight Howard of Orlando will start for the East. The West starters will include Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum of the Los Angeles Lakers, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers and Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City.
The reserves were selected by the 30 NBA head coaches. The teams that have the best conference records in games played through Feb. 15 will supply the coaches for the all-star teams.
