Matt Garza's 2008 championship ring stolen

FRESNO, Calif., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Authorities in California said someone stole Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza's 2008 American League championship ring from his tenure with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said the ring, valued at $30,000, was taken from Garza's home between Jan. 26-31, The Fresno Bee reported Friday.

Yahoo! Sports reported the 14 karat white gold ring is encrusted with 47 white and one yellow diamond. The player's name is engraved inside the ring.
