INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- The Super Bowl status of New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski remained in doubt Wednesday after he missed another practice with an ankle injury.

Gronkowski, who set an NFL mark for tight ends with 17 touchdown receptions this season, was the only player listed as a non-participant on New England's injury report Wednesday.

He hasn't been able to practice since hurting the ankle in the Jan. 22 AFC Championship Game.

Gronkowski told reporters in Indianapolis Tuesday he wasn't sure if he'd be able to play in Sunday's Super Bowl against the New York Giants if he couldn't practice during the week.

The Patriots receiver finished the 2011 season with 90 catches for 1,327 yards.
