Wilson's late birdies earns Humana title

LA QUINTA, Calif., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Mark Wilson claimed his fifth PGA Tour title Sunday, birdying two of the last three holes to score a two-stroke victory at the Humana Challenge.

Wilson rallied after losing the lead on the 10th hole, notching a total of four birdies over the last eight holes for a round of 5-under 67, finishing at 24-under 264.

That was two better than a trio of pursuers at minus-22. They included Johnson Wagner (7-under 65), John Mallinger (66) and Robert Garrigus (68).

Jeff Maggert registered an 8-under 64 to claim sole possession of fifth place at minus-21.

Play during Saturday's third round was suspended due to dangerous wind gusts at PGA West in California and resumed Sunday morning, followed by the final round.
