VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Cody Hodgson delivered the go-ahead goal during a frantic third period Saturday that saw the Vancouver Canucks emerge with a 5-4 victory over San Jose.
Hodgson's decisive tally came at the end of a three-goal flurry in which Ryan Kesler first put the Canucks ahead and San Jose's Dan Boyle tied it 4-4 only 36 seconds later.
Hodgson, however, finished the outburst by netting the game-winner 56 seconds after that as the Canucks snapped a two-game losing streak and avoided their longest winless stretch since last season's playoffs.
Roberto Luongo earned the victory in net, surpassing Kirk McLean (211) for the most wins in franchise history.
The Sharks, losers of three of four, got two goals from Logan Couture in the setback.
Antti Niemi stopped 26-of-30 shots for San Jose.
