MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday they have signed former Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Joel Zumaya to a one-year contract.

Zumaya hasn't appeared in a game since he broke his arm while throwing a pitch against the Twins during a June 28, 2010, game at Target Field.

After undergoing, Zumaya suffered a setback last year and underwent another procedure, causing him to miss the 2011 campaign.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune reported the deal is for $800,000, with incentives that could make it worth a total of $1.7 million.

Zumaya -- whose fastball often reached 100 mph -- has a 13-12 record with a 3.05 ERA and five saves while striking out 210 over 209 2/3 career innings with Detroit.
