ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers said Wednesday they have signed Japanese pitching star Yu Darvish to a six-year contract.
The team didn't release the details of the deal, but The Dallas Morning News reported the two-time Japan Pacific League MVP will receive $60 million.

The signing comes after the Rangers were successful in their bid to win the right to negotiate with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters for 25-year-old hurler.
In his five years with the Japanese team, Darvish has logged a sub-.2.00 ERA each season -- a first for the Nippon Professional Baseball league.
He logged an 18-6 record with 276 strikeouts in 232 innings last season, racking up a 1.44 ERA.
