NHL: Detroit 3, Dallas 2 (SO)

DALLAS, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Jiri Hudler's goal in the second round of the shootout Tuesday handed the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win over Dallas.

Hudler, who also scored in regulation, deked Stars goaltender Richard Bachman on his approach and slid the puck into the net with a backhand shot to give the Red Wings their fourth straight win.

Ty Conklin stopped two attempts in the shootout and Trevor Daley missed wide on the Stars' final try. Conklin stopped 25 of 27 shots in regulation and the extra time.

Tomas Holmstrom scored for Detroit in regulation. Hudler's goal at 1:43 of the second period knotted the score 2-2.

Brenden Morrow and Loui Eriksson scored for Dallas, giving the Stars a 2-1 lead after one period. Bachman turned in 30 saves.

Dallas has lost three straight games by one goal.
