NBA: Minnesota 93, Detroit 85

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Kevin Love set an NBA record with his 14th consecutive double-double to open the season Wednesday, leading Minnesota to a 93-85 win over Detroit.

Love had 20 points and 17 rebounds. He broke a record held by Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon, who had 13 double-doubles to start the 1992-93 campaign.

Minnesota rallied from a 16-point deficit and outscored the Pistons 29-14 in the final period.

Nikola Pekovic, Anthony Tolliver and Wesley Johnson all had 11 points for the Timberwolves, who have captured three out of four.

Tayshaun Prince had 29 for Detroit, which has lost three straight and nine out of 10. Ben Gordon added 18 points and Greg Monroe had 13.
