NHL: Detroit 3, Chicago 2 (OT)

DETROIT, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi's second goal of the game came 4:21 into overtime Saturday and handed the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over Chicago.

After Detroit dominated most of the 4-of-4 extra frame, Valtteri Filppula launched a shot from the left circle that bounced high off the shoulder of Blackhawks netminder Corey Crawford.

It ricocheted straight to Bertuzzi in the slot, who knocked it into the net out of midair and secured the Red Wings' team record-tying 14th consecutive home win.

Bertuzzi's first goal came on a breakaway in the first period.

Tomas Holmstrom and also scored and Jimmy Howard turned aside 25-of-27 shots as Detroit pulled to within one point of the Blackhawks atop the Central Division.

Chicago forced overtime when Jonathan Toews tipped in a Marian Hossa shot with 52 seconds remaining in regulation.

Andrew Shaw also found the net and Crawford finished with 40 saves for the Blackhawks.
