LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant scored 48 points Tuesday and the Los Angeles Lakers closed out the game with a 16-1 run to beat Phoenix 99-83.
Bryant was 18-of-31 from the field and 12-of-13 from the foul line. Pau Gasol had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lakers, who posted their third straight win in a three-game homestand.

Marcin Gortat led the Suns with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Channing Frye scored 17 for Phoenix, which lost for the second time in five games.
