Thunder's Maynor out for season

OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Eric Maynor will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a torn knee ligament, the team said Sunday.

Thunder General Manager Sam Presti said in a release Maynor tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in the fourth quarter of Saturday's contest in Houston against the Rockets.

Maynor, a reserve who played behind starting point guard Russell Westbrook, collapsed to the court after driving to the basket, clutching his knee on the play.

He lay on the court several minutes before being helped off by teammates, The Oklahoman reported.

"The injury will require surgery and Eric will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season," Presti said. "It's unfortunate to lose a player like Eric, whose work ethic and leadership has contributed to the culture of our organization."
