Pair ties 54-hole record at Africa Open

EAST LONDON, South Africa, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Defending champion Louis Ooshuizen shot a six-under 67 Saturday to earn a share of the lead at the Africa Open.

Ooshuizen, the 2010 British Open champion, birdied three of his final four holes at the East London Golf Club in South Africa and was tied with Tjaart van der Walt heading into Sunday's deciding round.

The two South Africans were 21-under 198, which tied the 54-hole record for the Open set in 2009 by James Kingston and Darren Clarke. They lead Retief Goosen by one stroke.

Ooshuizen, who shot 62 Friday, began Round 3 with three consecutive birdies and ended with only one bogey.

Van der Walt also got off to a fast start with six birdies and a bogey on the front nine.
