The Hawks led by 10-point early in the fourth period but let the lead slip away and Charlotte's Boris Diaw scored the final points of regulation on a layup with 7 seconds left. Atlanta's Al Horford and Diaw both missed jumpers in the closing moments to bring about the extra period.

Teague hit his 3-pointer 33 seconds into overtime and Atlanta never trailed while outscoring the Bobcats 11-5.

Atlanta won for the first time in three tries. The Bobcats failed in their bid to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Josh Smith led the Hawks with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Marvin Williams and Horford both had 15.

D.J. Augustin had 21 points and 12 assists for Charlotte.
