EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is nursing a torn wrist ligament, the team said Wednesday, putting his availability for the season opener in doubt.

The team said Bryant would miss Wednesday's final exhibition contest against the Clippers and is listed as day-to-day after hurting the wrist during Monday's loss to the Clippers.

Bryant sustained the injury when Clippers center DeAndre Jordan blocked him in the lane and the Lakers superstar fell hard to the floor, partially breaking the tumble with his right hand.

A torn lunotriquetral ligament was diagnosed Wednesday.

The Lakers open their schedule Sunday against the Chicago Bulls in one of five Christmas Day contests on the first day of the lockout-shortened season.
