Kobe Bryant's wife files for divorce

ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Vanessa Bryant, wife of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, filed for divorce Friday, the first step toward ending their 10-year marriage.

TMZ.com reported Bryant's wife cited "irreconcilable differences" in the filing.

The couple's publicist said in a statement additional filings would be made early next year in Orange County to make the divorce final.

The statement said the Bryants have "resolved all the issues" stemming from the divorce.

"We ask that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this most difficult time," the Bryants said in the statement.
