NHL: New Jersey 5, Tampa Bay 4

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Zach Parise, Ilya Kovalchuk and Adam Henrique scored consecutive goals in the second period Monday, boosting the New Jersey Devils to a 5-4 win over Tampa Bay.

Parise's tally 56 seconds into the middle frame triggered the three-goal outburst, handing the Devils a 3-2 lead, and he assisted on the other two goals in the big period.

Henrique added a pair of assists while Petr Sykora and Dainius Zubrus also scored for New Jersey, which won for the eighth time in nine visits to Tampa Bay.

Johan Hedberg stopped 32-of-36 shots to earn the win despite allowing a pair of Lightning tallies in the third period.

Steven Stamkos scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season and added an assist for the Bolts, who lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Starting goalie Dwayne Roloson was yanked after Parise's goal. He allowed three goals on 12 shots, while replacement Mathieu Garon stopped 8-of-10 the rest of the way.
