MONTREAL, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Rick Nash got the only goal in a shootout Tuesday, boosting the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-2 victory over Montreal.
Nash's tally in the third round of the tiebreaker held up for a win when Curtis Sanford stopped Brian Gionta on the Canadiens' last chance.

Vinny Prospal and R.J. Umberger also scored and Sanford turned aside 18-of-20 shots in his 10th straight start for Columbus, which closed out a four-game road with a 2-2 record.
The Habs forced overtime when Gionta tallied the equalizer with 1:21 left in regulation, firing home a feed from rookie Alexei Emelin, who collected his first NHL point on the play.
Andrei Kostitsyn scored and Carey Price finished with 26 saves for Montreal.
