NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Michael Grabner netted a short-handed goal in the third period Saturday, handing the New York Islanders a 3-2 win over New Jersey.
New Jersey's Ilya Kovalchuk had the puck coming out of his own end to start a power play but Grabner swooped in, stole the puck and skated in alone on Martin Brodeur.
His quick snap shot found the net, and the Islanders broke a 2-2 tie less than 6 minutes into the final frame.
The Devils thought they had forged another tie with 2.1 seconds remaining when Zach Parise put the puck into the net following a Patrik Elias faceoff win.
But the apparent score was disallowed after a video review determined Parise had kicked it in.
Josh Bailey and Matt Moulson also scored and Al Montoya made 24 saves as the Islanders snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Devils got a goal and an assist from Adam Henrique while Adam Larsson also tallied in the loss.
Brodeur finished with 23 saves.
