WASHINGTON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The first of two goals by Ruslan Fedotenko gave New York a 3-0 lead in the first period Friday and the Rangers held on to defeat Washington 6-3.
New York downed the Capitals for the fourth straight time and won its eighth game in 10 contests overall.
After a scoreless first period, the Rangers produced three goals in the first 7:55 of the second. Marian Gaborik, Artem Anisimov and Fedotenko all beat Michael Neuvirth, but Washington cut its deficit to just one on goals by Troy Brouwer and John Carlson.
Brian Boyle restored a two-goal cushion for the Rangers with 3:11 to go in the second and both Brad Richards and Fedotenko tallied in the third.
New York completed a 2-2 road trip with Henrik Lundqvist making 18 saves. The six New York goals came on 33 shots.
