NHL: Pittsburgh 6, Colorado 3

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Evgeni Malkin scored the go-ahead goal for Pittsburgh Tuesday and the Penguins used five unanswered scores to blow past Colorado 6-3.

The Penguins spotted the Avalanche a 3-1 lead after the first period, but then turned on the offense.

Pascal Dupuis got the second period's only goal and Brooks Orpik tied it up 1:12 into the final frame.

That set up Malkin's go-ahead tally 3 1/2 minutes later, in which James Neal feed him with a quick, behind-the-back pass and Malkin skated in alone on surprised Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov.

Neal finished with a goal and two assists. Jordan Staal and Kris Letang added a goal and an assist each for Atlantic Division-leading Pittsburgh.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24 shots for the Penguins.

Jay McClement had a goal and an assist, while Matt Duchene and David Jones also scored for Colorado.

Varlamov finished with 27 saves.
