SYDNEY, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- John Senden eagled the par-4 sixth hole and finished with consecutive birdies Saturday to take the lead after three rounds of the Australian Open.
Tiger Woods faltered in a bid for his first victory in two years, falling six shots off the pace.
Senden shot a 9-under 63 over the Lakes Club course for a 54-hole total of 204. That was one shot better than Jason Day, this year's Masters runner-up who celebrated his 24th birthday. Day shot a 68 to finish alone in second.
Greg Chalmers was third at 206, followed by Nick O'Hern and Nick Watney at 207.
Woods, who owned the second-round lead, stumbled to a 75 and was tied for eighth at 210. He bogeyed the first three holes and could never get going.
Woods has fallen to 58th in the world rankings after his two winless seasons and the inactivity brought on by knee and ankle injuries.
