NHL: Tampa Bay 2, Philadelphia 1 (OT)

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Brett Connolly scored 2:30 into overtime Wednesday to give the Tampa Bay Lightning its third straight win, a 2-1 decision over Philadelphia.

The teams combined to get off just 39 shots, due in large part to an odd first period in which there was occasionally no action.

Philadelphia, rather than attempt to battle through Tampa Bay's trapping defense, often sat on the puck with four defenders in its own zone. Tampa Bay did not force the play during those interludes.

With the Flyers on the power play midway through the second period, however, Scott Hartnell tipped in a shot by Jakub Voracek to give Philadelphia the lead.

That ended the delaying tactics, but Tampa Bay eventually got the game tied on Marc-Andre Bergeron's power-play goal 7:41 into the third.

Dwayne Roloson picked up the win by making 14 saves. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 22-of-24 shots for the Flyers.
