TORONTO, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Jack Skille and Shawn Matthias each netted a goal and an assist for Florida Tuesday, helping the Panthers dominate Toronto 5-1.
Skille's goal midway through the first period broke a scoreless tie and put the Panthers ahead to stay. Matthias capped the scoring with his second of the year in the final frame.
In between, Marco Sturm, Tomas Kopecky and Sean Bergenheim also found the net for Florida in the first contest of a two-game road trip.
Jose Theodore was sparkling in net, turning aside 38-of-39 shots, including all 18 he faced in the second period.
Maple Leafs goalie Jonas Gustavsson was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 21 shots. Ben Scrivens replaced him and stopped 5-of-7 shots the rest of the way.
Phil Kessel scored his league-leading 11th goal for Toronto.
