UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A 34-save performance by Ondrej Pavelec brought him his first shutout of the season Thursday in the Winnipeg Jets' 3-0 blanking of the New York Islanders.
It was New York's sixth straight loss. Winnipeg has won back-to-back games for the first time this season and improved to 3-1 on its seven-game road trip.
Pavelec, who is in his fifth NHL season, has seven career shutouts.
Evander Kane gave the Jets the lead 4:21 into the game on a slap shot and Pavelec had to protect that one-goal advantage until late in the contest.
Johnny Oduya scored with 3:52 to go in the game and Alex Burmistrov added an empty-net goal with 2:16 remaining.
Kane missed a penalty shot midway through the first period after he was taken down on a breakaway by New York defenseman Travis Hamonic.
