Philadelphia -- making its first-ever playoff appearance -- responded with the equalizer less than a minute later when Sebastian Le Toux received a pass from Michael Farfan and one-timed a shot past Houston goalie Tally Hall.

But Carr put the Dynamo ahead to stay in the 30th minute, accepting a through ball from Brian Ching and beating Union goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon.

The victory gave the Dynamo a one-goal lead heading into Thursday's second leg at Robertson Stadium in Houston.
