Vikings' Cook still in jail

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings defensive back Chris Cook remained in jail in Minneapolis Monday for a weekend domestic assault arrest.

Cook was to have appeared in court Monday but his hearing was canceled, a Hennepin County District Court official said. It wasn't known why the hearing was called off, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

The 24-year-old player was arrested at his Eden Prairie home early Saturday after a neighbor who lives across the street complained to police.

The Star Tribune said records showed Cook was being held on probable cause for a felony count of domestic assault/strangulation and a misdemeanor count of fifth-degree domestic assault.

The newspaper said the identity of his alleged victim hadn't been released.

Earlier this year, Cook was found not guilty of pulling a gun on a neighbor near his mother's home in Lynchburg, Va., after a judge determined there was not enough evidence to support the allegation that he brandished a firearm, the newspaper said.
